FRONTIER 01 / MACHINE INTELLIGENCE

Systems that can reason,
and systems we can trust.

Artificial intelligence already supports pattern recognition, multimodal interpretation, code generation and task assistance. Artificial general intelligence (AGI), meaning broadly capable human-level performance across domains, remains a debated target; artificial superintelligence (ASI), exceeding human capability across most cognitive domains, remains hypothetical. Separating present systems from future possibilities is essential to responsible research.

RESEARCH STATUS NOTE — This page discusses published science, emerging research and possible future directions. It does not assert that Waibees has built these technologies or that theoretical milestones have already been achieved.
01 / TECHNICAL PERSPECTIVE

From models to cognitive architectures

Today’s AI systems typically combine learned representations with inference, retrieval, memory and software tools. Transformer-based foundation models process tokens across language and other modalities, while retrieval-augmented generation grounds responses in external knowledge.

Long-horizon agents add planning loops, tool execution, persistent context, access controls and observation of outcomes. This increases usefulness but also expands failure modes: error propagation, tool misuse, instruction injection, hallucination and unsafe autonomy.

02 / TECHNICAL PERSPECTIVE

AGI and superintelligence: precise terminology

Artificial general intelligence is not a single established measurement. Evaluation depends on which domains, novelty conditions, autonomy levels, resource limits and robustness requirements are included. Strong benchmark scores alone cannot establish general intelligence.

Artificial superintelligence describes a speculative system with capabilities far beyond those of humans. Its arrival date and feasibility are uncertain. Waibees treats the subject as a field of inquiry, not an existing product or an achieved engineering capability.

03 / TECHNICAL PERSPECTIVE

How frontier systems should be evaluated

A serious evaluation program includes task validity, distribution shift, robustness to adversarial prompts, calibration, factuality, privacy, reproducibility, security and domain-specific safety. For agents, evaluation should include outcomes after multiple tool calls, not merely answer quality.

Operational testing should measure human oversight, failure recovery, resource consumption and whether a system stays within authorized scope. Standardized test suites, human review and staged deployment create a better evidence base than impressive demos.

04 / TECHNICAL PERSPECTIVE

Alignment, interpretability and governance

Alignment concerns whether system behavior remains consistent with legitimate human objectives, constraints and values. Interpretability studies how model mechanisms relate to outputs, while governance sets policies for accountability, documentation and incident response.

NIST’s AI Risk Management Framework provides a structured approach to mapping, measuring, managing and governing AI risks. A practical roadmap starts with use-case boundaries, data permissions, safety cases, human override and independent audits proportionate to the potential impact.

05 / TECHNICAL PERSPECTIVE

What comes next

Promising research directions include model-based planning, causal reasoning, verifiable computation, grounded world models, efficient multimodal agents and interfaces that communicate uncertainty. None individually guarantees AGI.

The most useful near-term question is how to design AI that complements people: transparent enough to oversee, secure enough to deploy, and measurable enough to improve through evidence.
